Who We Are
We are a group of reformed Pastors and ministry leaders who desire to be encouraged and equipped by God’s word. We seek to promote doctrinal integrity, address cultural challenges, encourage ongoing connections with other leaders and seek to strengthen church leadership.
Our History
In 2013, Nick Jackson moved to Washington to pastor Timberline Baptist Church in Lacey. He quickly recognized the unique spiritual landscape of the Pacific Northwest—a region of stunning beauty and open-hearted people, yet also one deeply resistant to the gospel. Observing the cultural pressures facing many churches and the isolation experienced by faithful pastors, Nick was grateful for the relationships he built with zealous, persevering leaders, but also keenly aware of the need for greater community and support.
About three years ago, this conviction resonated with Ozan Ferrin, a fellow pastor serving at Calvary Baptist Church in Roy while working full-time as an engineering manager. Through numerous conversations, a shared vision emerged: to strengthen the local church through sound doctrine and pastoral fellowship. Their growing friendship led to discussions about how they could encourage other pastors in the region.
In 2023, Nick and Ozan began praying and developing the vision for a Northwest conference specifically for pastors and church leaders—a gathering focused on equipping and encouraging through the Word of God. Recognizing Scripture as the means of salvation and sustenance, they desired to create a space for connection, refreshment, and the vital reminder that no pastor stands alone.
This vision culminated in Sound Theology—a conference by the local church, for the local church. Every speaker is a pastor serving within the Northwest, underscoring their core conviction: the sufficiency of God’s Word for the supremacy of Christ. They believe God’s Word is central to the health of both pastor and church. Sound Theology is committed to demonstrating robust, reformed, biblical preaching that strengthens believers and glorifies Christ.
Timberline Baptist Church, a reformed Baptist church dedicated to making disciples for Christ’s glory among all nations, is honored to serve as the organizing church for Sound Theology.
